The Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) Yacht Code 2026 (the “Code”), is now available.
The newly updated Code reflects lessons learned and best practices developed in recent years, while aligning with revised instruments from the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
The Code will come into force on 1 January 2026. This supersedes all previous versions.
“The RMI Maritime Administrator continues to lead the way in providing a practical framework for innovation in the yacht sector,” said Marc Verburg, Director, Yacht Operations. “This revision of the Code reflects the practicable application of current international regulations for innovative designs, materials, construction methods, and modern operational practices,” he continued.
“These amendments went through an industry consultation phase in the Spring of 2025, which allowed stakeholders to provide feedback and comments,” continued Verburg. “The feedback received was instrumental in ensuring the Code is fit for purpose for this innovative industry,” he concluded.
