Early life and education
Marco studied European Studies at The Hague University of Applied Sciences, a foundation that sparked his interest in geopolitics, international relations, and global commerce. His academic background laid the groundwork for a career spent navigating the complexities of multicultural environments and building partnerships across continents.
Career trajectory
Marco’s professional journey spans diplomacy, corporate leadership, and high-impact entrepreneurship.
He began his career as a diplomat for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stationed throughout Asia. In this role, he led and supported numerous trade missions, strengthened bilateral economic cooperation, and became a key advisor for European enterprises entering the fast-growing Asian markets.
He later served the National Trade Agency, providing strategic guidance to companies navigating cultural and commercial differences in Asia. His years living and working on the ground gave him unparalleled insight into local markets, helping Dutch and European firms establish long-term success.
Marco expanded his expertise in the private sector with ExxonMobil in Bangkok, contributing to high-level global strategic initiatives.
Driven by entrepreneurship, he went on to establish and scale distribution networks across Asia for several innovative companies. His leadership spans frontier industries such as AI, Blockchain, Healthcare, Energy Transition, Marine Technology, and Cybersecurity, positioning him as a cross-sector expert with a future-focused perspective.
Today, Marco serves as:
- Chairman of the Netherlands-Thai Chamber of Commerce (Dutch Chapter)
- Founder & CEO of Euralinx, where he connects leading Asian tech innovators with European markets and guides Dutch companies toward successful expansion in ASEAN
- Advisory Board Member for the Market Research Project Thailand & Vietnam at the University of Maastricht
